AI machine learning vision processing system automates pipe welding
NovEye Autonomy (Gen 2) from Novarc Technologies
Novarc Technologies Inc. has launched NovEye Autonomy (Gen 2), an AI machine learning real-time vision processing system that constantly improves weld quality based on data collection and model enhancement to fully automate the pipe welding process.
According to the company, the system gets smarter as it continuously improves through a terabyte-scale library of welding videos to help ensure precision and reliability.
The software embedded in the control system of the cobot controls the weld pool in the same way a human welder would, so repetitive welds can be delegated to the robot. The multipass, multilayer autonomous welding system detects pipe fitting inconsistencies like HiLo and varying root gaps and adapts welding parameters to a achieve uninterrupted welding and maintain weld integrity.
The spool welding robot—the hardware component of the system—is designed with a very small footprint but a very long reach, enabling it to fit in almost all fabrication shops.
